With the BBC’s Newsline program in Northern Ireland in the late 1990s, Annita started her career as a reporter and sporadic presenter. Her stories appeared on BBC One, BBC News, and BBC Radio after she joined BBC Network News in 2002 as a news correspondent.
She continued in this position through the summer of 2006, when she replaced Joanna Gosling on the weekend evening shift when she switched to a weekday schedule shortly after her return from maternity leave. Chris Lowe, a seasoned newsreader, served as her original co-host before retiring in January 2009.
She is best known today for her work as a co-presenter of BBC News, which she does every Friday at around 7 p.m. with Clive Myrie and 10 p.m.
