At age 27, she experienced a very horrific attack by a knife-wielding man that almost killed her but she survived. She was stabbed and left for dead. That experience inspired her to become a motivational speaker and a writer.

Alison was born on September 22, 1967, in Port Elizabeth, a town located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. At 10, her parents, Brian and Claire divorsed. but Alison and her brother Neale grew-up with her mother. She only finish Collegiate High School in Port Elizabeth where she was the head girl of the school.
On December 18, 1994, She was abducted near her home in South Africa. Before morning, she was raped, stabbed both in the abdomen and her throat was cut by the attackers, but she didnot die.
Alison Bother documentary titled Alison was released on August 12, 2016, and it highlighted how she used Attitude, Belief, and Choice to turn her life around after the incident.
She has produced and featured many documentaries that showcased how she survived the deadly attack. She has traveled to over 30 countries, motivating others.
Alison got married to Tienie Botha during her healing process. She share a similar background with her husband who also suffered depression due to unresolved childhood trauma. They have two sons together, Danial and Matthew.
